X-PERT Weight & Wellbeing Expands to Andover Leisure Centre
Following a series of highly successful programmes at Gosport Leisure Centre, funded by Hampshire County Council, X-PERT Health and Places Leisure have confirmed the launch of the X-PERT Weight & Wellbeing Programme at Andover Leisure Centre in October 2025, helping even more residents achieve healthier, more active lives.
Since September 2024, 122 people in Gosport have taken part in the 12-week evidence-based programme, which combines practical nutrition advice, lifestyle education, and physical activity support. The results speak for themselves:
– 54% of participants achieved a clinically significant weight loss of 5% or more, with one individual losing an incredible 15kg.
– Collectively, participants lost 484kg in body weight and reduced their waistlines by an average of 7.5cm.
– 83% of participants completed the full 12 weeks – well above national averages for weight management services.
– 80% of completers have gone on to become paying members at Gosport Leisure Centre, demonstrating long-term commitment to healthy lifestyles.
The programme has also had a profound effect on confidence and wellbeing. Participants reported greater ability to overcome barriers to exercise, make healthier food choices, and sustain positive lifestyle changes. Session enjoyment rated 8.75/10, with 98% of participants saying they gained knowledge and skills they could apply immediately.

Expanding to Andover in September 2025
Building on this success, the X-PERT Weight & Wellbeing Programme will now be rolled out at Andover Leisure Centre, funded by Andover Primary Care Network, from October 2025. The expansion reflects growing demand for effective, community-based health programmes and a commitment to tackling health inequalities across Hampshire.

We are delighted with the impact the programme has had in Gosport – not only in terms of weight loss but in building long-term confidence, healthier habits, and community engagement. Expanding to Andover means even more people will have access to the support they need to transform their health and wellbeing,” said Danny Churcher, Contract Manager at Places Leisure.
To take part in the programme, residents are encouraged to speak with their GP or contact their GP surgery to arrange a referral.
