This is a great alternative to potato mash!

Swede Mash

Ingredients:

600g *swede
100g butter (or to taste)
salt to taste (1 tsp)
ground nutmeg to taste (optional)
ground black pepper to taste (optional)

*you may wish to replace the swede with celeriac

Method: Prep Time 10 Minutes / Cook Time 20 Minutes

1. Cut the swede into chunks
2. Put the swede in a large saucepan of salted water. Bring to the boil, then cover and simmer for 20 minutes, until soft
3. Drain in a colander, over a bowl. Keep the water and place the swede in a warm serving bowl. Pour a little of the water into the bowl, add the butter and start to mash (optional: if you use a food processor or hand blender, the mash will be smoother)
4. Once mashed, add the nutmeg, salt, and black pepper and stir in gently
