There isn't a normal dose/units, the number of units for each dose is calculated according to the amount of carbohydrates in meals, the amount of activity a person takes, some times the time of year as heat can alter the amount of insulin required and in Type 2 diabetes, the amount of insulin resistance or insulin sensitivity of that individual. You may start on a low dose for example 10 units twice daily and this can be increased according to blood glucose measurements.
