Hi. Can you give me an example of how this works? For example. I have two boiled eggs on two granary toast each morning.
Toast 2 slice = 30g Wholemeal or is it 80g?
Where are the eggs?
Can you provide me one Example Daily Total please.
Hi Tony
Thank you for your question and well done for having a go at monitoring your total carb intake. Being aware of how much and where your carbs are coming from can have a positive effect on health and blood glucose management.
Do you have our handbook V14? If you have there is an example of what a day could look like on page 80.
To answer your question, you only count the amount of carbs, so in your example, it would be :
Breakfast: Toast 2 slice = 30g
If you do this for a few days and average these out it will give you an idea of where you are right now with your carb intake. For low carb, the daily goal is to aim for around 130g, for very low carb less than 50g and for the Mediterranean dietary approach around 200g.
Eggs are protein so therefore do not go into this food diary. You only include carb foods.
Hope this helps, if you still need any more help, please ask.
Paul
