The Mediterranean dietary approach is based around the quality of the food eaten.
It typically focusses on consuming natural, minimally processed foods. This includes lots of olive oil, fruits, vegetables, pasta, rice, potatoes, beans, nuts, legumes, seeds, herbs and spices. Fish and seafood are usually consumed a couple of times a week with moderate amounts of poultry, red meat, cheese, eggs and yoghurt. Sweet products are rarely consumed. Eat a similar amount of unprocessed carbs and fats per day.
As well as a focus on certain types of food this approach also centres on being physically active.
A low fat dietary approach restricts how much fat is consumed. Typically this way of eating involves having less than 70g fat per day. Low fat foods have less than 3g fat per 100g. All of our low fat recipes have between 0g - 20g fat per serving.
