New to this so apologies if it's been covered. I care for someone just been diagnosed as pre-diabetic. I have hundreds of questions, but one for now.....he also has high cholesterol, so we have been using benecol or flora instead of butter, but from what I am now reading, it appears he would be best using butter again. Is that correct?

Thanks.

Hi

Thanks for your question and it is great you have more to come and more to learn.

You will learn more about how to manage diabetes and cholesterol during the course. But for now, the essentials are:

1) Following the 7 lifestyle factors is the first step towards being healthier.

2) You should not be concerned about total cholesterol, but what it is made up of. Calculating some health markers (page 160 in V14) can give you an idea of what to change, these can include: total cholesterol to HDL ratio; triglycerides to HDL ratio & triglycerides. To know how to improve these refer to page 19 for some practical steps.

3) When it comes to which fat to consider, it is good to have a range of different ones to choose from, the fats on page 55 (v14) identify these. There are no additional benefits to buying more expensive, highly marketed products such as those you have mentioned.

Hope this helps

Paul
