I have both diabetes and PCOS (+ migranes). this makes it really difficult to loose weight and after some time, to have any motivation to do so.
I would like to understand the relationships between diabetes and PCOS and what can be done to kick-start weight loss under this circumstances.
Thank you
Hi
Thank you for your question, and it is understandable that you lack some motivation given your diabetes/PCOS and migraines. This link will provide you with some further information regarding the relationship between diabetes/PCOS and weight loss.
In brief, the following may help you improve your health and energy levels:
1) Think about what changes you could make in regards to your lifestyle e.g. slowly increasing your activity levels, reducing stress levels, improving sleep, and if applicable; reducing alcohol to 14 units per week, taking prescribed medication and reducing/stopping smoking.
2) In terms of your diet, adopting a low carb/very low carb dietary approach will help to lower insulin levels, high insulin levels are associated with PCOS.
More detailed information can be found in version 14 of the Diabetes Prevention & Management handbook which can be bought from our shop.
Hope this helps
