I’m trying to work out which dietary approach will suit me best. Is it possible to mix the low carb, low fat, Mediterranean and intermittent fasting approaches? Or do I need to choose one and stick with it?
Hi,
Thank you for your question and sorry for the delay getting back to you.
The first thing to consider with the dietary approaches is that you need to experiment with them to find which one suits your lifestyle and improves your health profile.
Regardless of which one you choose, all the sections in the Nutrition for Health template are the same apart from the fat/carb sections which are where you need to experiment with. When one increases the other will reduce unless you follow the Mediterranean where both are equal. You can eat Meditteranean types of food and mix them with the other approaches
All of the approaches are suitable to combine with fasting if you wish to try that (please note that if you are on any medications that lower your blood glucose such as insulin/sulphonylureas you should speak to your healthcare team first).
For all the approaches the key thing to consider is: to enjoy your food, and reduce or stop, snacking, and eating processed / junk food.
Hope this helps
Paul
