Don't think you can enjoy a delicious pie on a low carb diet. Think again. Our steak pie recipe uses low carb FiberFlour that reduces the carbs in the pastry.

Steak Pie with FiberFlour crust

Ingredients:

Filling
1 onion
4 cloves garlic
600g stewing steak (diced)
50g butter
300ml beef stock
200ml red wine
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Pastry
200g Ultra Fine FiberFlour
100g butter (hard & diced)
Salt
Approx 50ml double cream mixed with 50ml water

Filling Method:
1. Melt the butter, fry onions, add steak, add garlic
2. Add liquids
3. Add salt & pepper
4. Simmer on low heat for approx 2 hours until reduced and the meat is tender

Pastry Method:
1. Add flour to a bowl
2. Add pinch salt
3. Add butter & rub in until it resembles breadcrumbs
4. Add liquid (cream/water) until pastry consistency (not sticky)

Putting it all together
1. Once the steak filling has thickened, pour into a pie dish
2. Roll the pastry out (you may need to do this between two sheets of cling film to prevent it cracking)
3. Place pastry on top of the filling, make three slits on top and nip together around the edge to create the crust
4. Bake in the oven until pastry is golden brown
3. Serve with cauliflower mash, buttered green beans and red wine gravy
