I am starting out on a low carb diet, but there seems to be lots of contradictions in what I am reading.

My question is, I am trying to cut as much carbs as I can and will be taking in more good fats to compensate, but will I be ok to occasionally eat foods with high carbs that have a large impact on blood glucose but are low GI so slow releasing, for example All Bran or Kidney beans, Thanks.

Hi

Thank you for your question, and yes there is a lot of information out there which can seem daunting and confusing

First of all, reducing carbs and increasing fats to compensate is a good strategy, just be mindful that you can still easily overeat fats which can make weight loss harder if this is your goal or gain weight.

I have put some links below written by XPERT regarding the key considerations to think about when starting out on low carb so reading these would be a good start.

If you have any further other questions after reading these then feel free to ask.

Hope this is useful for you.

Paul
