As a young man, I thrived in stress situations. I worked a lot in love TV (GMTV etc) and loved the adrenaline, black coffee and excitement of high pressure environments.

I worry that way of living has had a really negative effect on my cortisol levels. I also have the added issue of having ADHD, which at times causes a lot of unnecessary adrenaline.

I’m eating better, have started simple exercise etc.

but someone has suggested I take magnesium, and B1 as apparently they are very calming.

Is this true?

Hi Jason

Thank you for your question, hopefully, I can answer this for you.

We have written a blog post about stress (here) which you may find helpful. Additionally, we have lots of advice and top tips in Version 14 of the Diabetes programme handbook which you can buy from the shop.

You have made great progress by adopting 2 of the 7 lifestyle factors, both these will help with improving your health, are there any of the others that you could also start to work on?

In terms of the supplements, I have answered this in your previous question, so please see this.

Hope this helps

Paul
