X-PERT Health have celebrated another successful year of award winning education in the prevention and management of obesity and diabetes. The X-PERT Health awards recognise well performing organisations & educators who deliver the X-PERT education across the UK.

The theme of the audit awards is ‘Educate not Medicate’. X-PERT Health passionately believe that through education people can understand their condition better, giving them greater confidence to make more informed choices, improving their health and moving towards remission. By helping to reduce the need for medication, education programmes like X-PERT can help save the NHS millions of pounds each year.

Dr Trudi Deakin, CEO of X-PERT Health commented: “The passion and enthusiasm of our wonderful X-PERT educators’ helps people make changes in their lifestyle to improve their health. I congratulate all the winners and runners-up and our amazing X-PERT team.”

About X-PERT Health

X-PERT Health trains educators to deliver its four core programmes – X-PERT Diabetes for Type 2 diabetes, X-PERT Insulin for Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, X-PERT Prevention of Diabetes (X-POD) for prediabetes and X-PERT Weight for weight management. Each programme includes between six and twelve sessions, delivered weekly. The sessions develop the knowledge, understanding and confidence for people to make informed decisions about their lifestyle leading to improved health and wellbeing. The X-PERT Diabetes education has been delivered to over 300,000 people across over 100 organisations. The 2020 annual audit report demonstrates excellent attendance and increased empowerment with outstanding improvements in clinical outcomes such as body weight, diabetes control, blood pressure and cholesterol ratios. X-PERT programmes are making a real difference to the lives of people with obesity, prediabetes and diabetes.

During these challenging times with the COVID-19 pandemic, it has become necessary to change the interface of group-based structured education to virtual means. Fortunately we have a menu of options available to enable participants to access, and engage in, education in their own homes.
